Indications
Zukedib is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to an appropriate diet and physical exercise. It is used in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise alone. Zukedib works by increasing insulin release from the pancreas and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, always under medical supervision.
Composition
Each Zukedib tablet contains 4 mg of glimepiride as the active ingredient, as well as excipients that allow for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or any component of the product. It should not be administered in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe liver or kidney diseases, and during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as in those with a history of cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor blood glucose levels and adjust the dose as needed. Excessive administration can lead to hypoglycemia, so patients should be educated about the signs and symptoms of this condition.
