Indications
Solu-Medrol is indicated for the treatment of various medical conditions, including but not limited to:
- Autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis.
- Inflammatory diseases, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease.
- Severe allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
- Treatment of certain respiratory conditions such as severe asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
- Treatment of certain types of cancer in combination with other drugs.
- Severe dermatological conditions.
Composition
Each ampoule of Solu-Medrol contains:
- Methylprednisolone: 500 mg
- Excipients: water for injection, sodium chloride, among others.
Contraindications
The use of Solu-Medrol is contraindicated in patients with:
- Hypersensitivity to methylprednisolone or any of the excipients.
- Untreated systemic infections.
- Hyperchloremia or severe renal insufficiency.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with:
- Active infections, as the use of corticosteroids may mask signs of infection.
- Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, peptic ulcers, and cardiovascular diseases.
- History of tuberculosis or viral infections.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
