Indications
Soliqua is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control with metformin alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetic medications. This medication is used in patients who require insulin to help control their glucose levels, as well as in those who need a combination of insulin and a GLP-1 agonist to improve their glycemic control. Soliqua can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics and/or insulin, as per medical evaluation.
Composition
Each milliliter of Soliqua contains 100 units of insulin glargine and 33 micrograms of lixisenatide. Other components include excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of Soliqua, as well as in those with diabetic ketoacidosis. It should not be used in patients who experience severe hypoglycemic episodes or who cannot identify the symptoms of hypoglycemia.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with kidney or liver diseases, as the elimination of the components may be affected. Care should also be taken in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those with gastrointestinal disorders. It is important to monitor blood glucose levels regularly and adjust the dose as needed.
Storage
Store in refrigeration between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Once opened, the product can be stored at room temperature (up to 30°C) and must be used within 14 days. Keep out of reach of children.
