Indications
Siptatin is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin in patients who do not achieve adequate glucose control with these treatments. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of the DPP-4 enzyme, which increases incretin concentrations and enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, thereby reducing hepatic glucose production.
Composition
Each Siptatin tablet contains 100 mg of sitagliptin as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the drug's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or any of the product's excipients. It should not be used in individuals with type 1 diabetes mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. Likewise, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis.
Precautions
Renal function should be evaluated before starting treatment and monitored periodically during Siptatin use. Patients with renal insufficiency may require dose adjustments. Caution is important in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as a possible increase in risk has been reported. Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Storage
Store in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light and moisture.
