Indications
Ritalin is indicated for the treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents, as well as for the treatment of narcolepsy. Methylphenidate acts as a psychostimulant that helps increase attention and decrease impulsivity and hyperactivity in patients diagnosed with ADHD. This medication should be used as part of a comprehensive treatment program that includes educational, psychological, and social measures.
Composition
Each tablet contains 10 mg of methylphenidate, as well as excipients such as lactose, starch, and other inactive components that facilitate product formulation.
Contraindications
Ritalin is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to methylphenidate or any component of the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with glaucoma, severe anxiety disorders, tics or a family history of Tourette's syndrome, as well as in those receiving monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of substance abuse, cardiovascular disorders, or hypertension. Regular monitoring of growth is important in children and adolescents receiving methylphenidate treatment. The use of the medication in older individuals should be carefully evaluated due to an increased risk of adverse effects.
Storage
Ritalin should be stored in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
