Indications
Reminyl ER is indicated for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Galantamine, its active ingredient, acts as a selective acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, which helps to increase acetylcholine concentrations in the brain, thereby improving cognitive function and memory in these patients. It has also been shown to improve the quality of life and daily functioning of patients suffering from this condition.
Composition
Each Reminyl ER capsule contains 16 mg of galantamine (as galantamine hydrobromide) as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients necessary for the drug's formulation.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to galantamine or any component of the formulation. Likewise, its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe cardiac arrhythmias, atrioventricular block, or moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as in those with cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor liver and kidney function in patients with alterations in these organs, and in case of adverse effects, discontinuation of treatment should be considered.
Storage
Store in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
