Indications
Relpax (eletriptan) is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. This medication acts as a selective serotonin receptor (5-HT) agonist, which helps relieve migraine symptoms such as headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. Relpax is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of migraine episodes, leading to an improvement in the quality of life for patients suffering from this condition. It is important that treatment be initiated as soon as possible after the onset of migraine symptoms to maximize its effectiveness.
Composition
Each Relpax tablet contains 40 mg of eletriptan as the active ingredient. It also includes excipients such as corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and other inactive components that facilitate the tablet's formulation.
Contraindications
Relpax is contraindicated in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, including myocardial infarction or angina pectoris. It should not be administered to individuals with known hypersensitivity to eletriptan or any other component of the formula. Furthermore, its use is contraindicated in patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or certain antimigraine medications, such as triptans, due to the risk of adverse interactions.
Precautions
Before starting treatment with Relpax, a thorough medical evaluation should be performed to rule out the presence of cardiovascular or neurological conditions that could increase the risk of adverse effects. Careful monitoring is recommended in patients with cardiovascular risk factors. Additionally, the use of this medication should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Storage
Relpax should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and out of reach of children. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C.
