Indications
Nyquil Z is indicated for the temporary relief of cold and flu symptoms, including nasal congestion, sneezing, and runny nose. It is also useful for treating seasonal allergy symptoms such as itchy eyes, nose, or throat, and for reducing cough associated with upper respiratory tract irritations. The medication acts as an antihistamine, helping to decrease the activity of histamine, a compound in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
Composition
Each Nyquil Z capsule contains 25 mg of diphenhydramine as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate the formulation and absorption of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to diphenhydramine or any of the formula's components. It is also contraindicated in individuals with narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention problems, and those undergoing treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Nyquil Z in patients with heart disease, hypertension, chronic lung diseases, or liver problems. Its use is not recommended in children under 12 years of age without medical supervision. Furthermore, alcohol intake should be avoided during treatment, as this may increase drowsiness and other side effects.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and do not use after the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
