Indications

Novorapid is a rapid-acting insulin indicated for the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults and children. It is used to control blood glucose levels during and after meals. It should be administered just before meals to achieve an adequate hypoglycemic response. It is important to adjust the dose according to the individual needs of each patient and the recommendations of the treating physician.

Composition

Each ml of Novorapid contains 100 units of insulin aspart (equivalent to 3.5 mg). Excipients include metacresol, phenol, hydrochloric acid, and water for injection, which facilitate the product's formulation and stability.

Contraindications

This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to insulin aspart or any of the formulation components. It should not be used in patients with hypoglycemic episodes or in those with conditions requiring strict blood glucose control that cannot be guaranteed.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised when administering Novorapid to patients with impaired renal or hepatic function, as well as in those experiencing changes in their eating habits or physical activity level. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential to prevent episodes of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. Furthermore, it is crucial to educate the patient about recognizing the symptoms of these conditions.

Storage

Novorapid should be stored refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Once opened, the product can be stored at room temperature (not exceeding 30 °C) and must be used within a period of 4 weeks. Keep the medication out of the reach of children.
