Indications
Napicil is indicated for the treatment of patients with primary hypercholesterolemia or mixed dyslipidemia. This medication is used as part of a comprehensive lipid-lowering approach that includes diet and exercise changes. Atorvastatin, which belongs to the class of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, works by lowering LDL cholesterol levels and increasing HDL cholesterol levels. Ezetimibe, for its part, inhibits the intestinal absorption of cholesterol, complementing the action of atorvastatin. This treatment is suitable for patients who cannot control their cholesterol levels solely through diet and exercise. In addition, Napicil can be used in patients with existing cardiovascular diseases to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.
Composition
Each Napicil tablet contains 10 mg of atorvastatin and 10 mg of ezetimibe.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered to patients with active liver disease or persistent transaminase elevations. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, or who are taking other medications that may increase the risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. It is recommended to monitor transaminase levels before and during treatment. It is important to assess renal function in patients with risk factors.
