Indications
Nalixone is indicated for the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by germs sensitive to nalidixic acid. It is also used to relieve pain, burning, and discomfort in the urinary tract and in associated conditions such as cystitis and urethritis. Phenazopyridine acts as a urinary analgesic, providing symptomatic relief, while nalidixic acid acts as an antibacterial that fights the infection. It is important that the use of this medication is under the supervision of a healthcare professional, who will determine the duration of treatment and the need for clinical follow-up.
Composition
Each tablet contains: 500 mg of nalidixic acid and 50 mg of phenazopyridine.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, porphyria, or those who have difficulty urinating. Likewise, its administration should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation unless strictly necessary and indicated by a doctor.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of kidney or liver disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with the components of Nalixone. Regular monitoring of kidney function is essential during treatment. If symptoms persist or worsen, a doctor should be consulted.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
