Microgynon Cd is a combined oral contraceptive indicated for the prevention of pregnancy. The effectiveness of this medication lies in the combined action of its components, Levonorgestrel and Ethinylestradiol, which work by inhibiting ovulation, altering cervical mucus, and modifying the endometrium, thus hindering the implantation of a fertilized egg. Composition
Each tablet contains: - Levonorgestrel 0.15 mg - Ethinylestradiol 0.03 mg
Contraindications
Microgynon Cd should not be used in patients with a history of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, breast cancer or a history of this type of cancer, severe liver diseases, or in cases of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It is also contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in women who have risk factors such as obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, or a family history of thrombosis. In addition, regular medical follow-up is important to assess the tolerance and effectiveness of the treatment. The use of this medication in combination with certain antibiotics and anticonvulsants is not recommended, as they may affect its efficacy.
