Indications
Lindeza 120 mg is indicated as an adjunct in weight reduction in obese patients, as well as in the maintenance of weight loss. This medication acts by inhibiting fat absorption in the intestine, which allows for a decrease in total caloric intake. Its use is recommended in conjunction with a hypocaloric diet and a regular exercise program. The use of Lindeza is indicated for adults with a body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30 kg/m², or in those with a BMI greater than or equal to 27 kg/m² who present associated risk factors such as type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia.
Composition
Each Lindeza capsule contains 120 mg of orlistat as an active ingredient, as well as excipients that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to orlistat or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in patients with chronic malabsorption or cholestasis. Its use is not recommended in patients with eating disorders.
Precautions
It is important to carry out medical monitoring during treatment with Lindeza, especially in those patients with previous gastrointestinal diseases. It should be noted that the use of this medication may affect the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, so supplementation with a multivitamin complex should be considered. In addition, patients should be warned about the possibility of gastrointestinal side effects such as flatulence, diarrhea, and fecal urgency.
