Indications
Kodel is indicated for the treatment of respiratory conditions involving cough and mucus production. This medication combines two active ingredients: bromhexine, which acts as a mucolytic, facilitating the expulsion of bronchial secretions, and codeine, an antitussive that helps reduce coughing. It is used in conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and other pathologies that cause an irritating or productive cough. It is important that this medication be used under medical supervision to ensure proper administration and dosage.
Composition
Each 100 ml of syrup contains: 160 mg of bromhexine and 200 mg of codeine. Excipients: sugar, purified water, flavorings, among others.
Contraindications
Kodel is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula. It should not be administered in cases of acute or chronic respiratory failure, nor in patients with a history of substance abuse, as codeine can cause dependence. Likewise, its use should be avoided in children under 12 years of age, unless indicated by a doctor.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with liver or kidney diseases, as well as in those taking other medications that may interact with codeine. Medical monitoring is essential in patients over 65 years of age, as they may be more sensitive to the adverse effects of codeine.
