Indications
Januvia (sitagliptin) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication is used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin or sulfonylureas when diet and exercise alone have not been sufficient to control blood glucose. Sitagliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which leads to an increase in incretin levels, which in turn increase insulin release and decrease glucagon secretion, thus contributing to glucose regulation.
Composition
Each Januvia tablet contains 50 mg of sitagliptin as the active ingredient. Excipients include: microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or any of its components. Its use is not recommended in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus or in cases of diabetic ketoacidosis.
Precautions
Special care should be taken in patients with renal insufficiency, as the dose may require adjustment. Additionally, it is recommended to monitor renal function before and during treatment. In case of pancreatitis symptoms, treatment should be discontinued immediately.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
