Indications
Janumet XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise. This medication is used in patients who have not achieved adequate glucose control with metformin alone. It can also be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, as determined by the physician. Janumet XR helps improve glycemic control by increasing insulin secretion and decreasing glucose production in the liver.
Composition
Each Janumet XR tablet contains:
- Sitagliptin (as sitagliptin phosphate) 50 mg
- Metformin (as metformin hydrochloride) 1000 mg
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, in those with severe renal insufficiency or end-stage renal disease. It is also contraindicated in patients with metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless under strict medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is advised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, hepatic insufficiency, and in those who are being treated with other medications that may affect renal function. Regular monitoring of renal function during treatment is important. The possibility of hypoglycemia should be considered when used in combination with other antidiabetics.

Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
