Indications
Janumet XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, when therapy with metformin or sitagliptin does not achieve adequate glucose control. This medication can be used in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, as determined by the physician. Its use is indicated in overweight or obese patients and can help reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications.
Composition
Each Janumet XR tablet contains 1000 mg of metformin and 100 mg of sitagliptin. Excipients: hypromellose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with severe renal failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, or serious diseases that compromise renal function. Its use is not recommended in situations of severe dehydration or in patients with a history of pancreatitis.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate renal function before starting treatment and periodically during therapy. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, as well as in those at high risk of hypoglycemia. It is important to inform your doctor about any medications you are taking to avoid interactions.
