Indications
Janumet XR is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. It is suitable for patients who do not achieve adequate blood glucose control with metformin alone or sitagliptin alone. It can also be used in combination with other antidiabetic medications, when necessary, to maximize the hypoglycemic effect.
Composition
Each Janumet XR tablet contains 100 mg of sitagliptin and 1000 mg of metformin, along with excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Janumet XR is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to sitagliptin, metformin, or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with severe renal failure, dehydration, or conditions that may cause metformin accumulation, such as metabolic acidosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with unstable or critically ill cardiovascular diseases.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of pancreatitis, mild to moderate renal impairment, and those who are being treated with other antidiabetics. It is essential to monitor renal function before and during treatment, as well as to be alert for signs of hypoglycemia, especially if combined with other drugs that may induce it. Additionally, liver function should be evaluated in patients with liver alterations.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children.
