Indications
Janumet is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is recommended for patients who do not achieve adequate control with metformin alone, as well as for those already being treated with the combination of sitagliptin and metformin. Janumet can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetic agents, including sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones, or insulin, as assessed by the treating physician.
Composition
Each Janumet tablet contains:
- Sitagliptin: 50 mg
- Metformin: 850 mg
Contraindications
Janumet is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with severe renal insufficiency, active kidney disease, dehydration, or conditions that may predispose to the development of lactic acidosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of acute pancreatitis.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of pancreatitis, liver disease, heart problems, or those who may be at risk of lactic acidosis. Regular monitoring of renal function is important in patients treated with metformin. Likewise, monitoring of blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) is advised to evaluate treatment efficacy.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
