Indications
Janumet is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients, as an adjunct to diet and exercise. It is intended for use in patients who do not achieve adequate blood glucose control with metformin alone or in combination with other oral antidiabetics. This medication can be used as dual therapy in combination with sulfonylureas or insulin, when metformin alone is insufficient. Janumet acts by improving glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reducing hepatic glucose production, thereby contributing to the control of blood glucose levels.
Composition
Each Janumet tablet contains: 50 mg Sitagliptin and 500 mg Metformin.
Contraindications
Janumet is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the formula, severe renal failure, metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and in those with a history of pancreatitis. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women without adequate medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal insufficiency, risk of dehydration, liver disease, and in those who are being treated with other drugs that may affect renal function. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels and renal function is important during treatment with Janumet.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
