Indications
Fresofol (Propofol) is indicated for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia in surgical and diagnostic procedures. The use of this medication allows for rapid recovery and a shorter time of postoperative sedation. It is also used for moderate sedation in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in adult and pediatric patients. Medical supervision is important during its administration, as well as monitoring of the patient's vital signs.
Composition
Each 100 ml of Fresofol contains: 0.5 g of Propofol, 0.05 g of soybean phospholipids, 0.01 g of oleic acid, and other excipients. The formulation is designed to provide a safe and effective medium for intravenous administration of the anesthetic.
Contraindications
Fresofol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Propofol or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with blood fat disorders, such as lipidemia, due to its lipid content. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of anaphylaxis to egg or soy-derived products.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in its administration in patients with severe cardiac, respiratory, or neurological disease. Likewise, the patient's hemodynamic status should be considered, as Propofol can cause hypotension. It is essential that medical personnel are trained in managing possible complications during its use.
Storage
Fresofol should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, protected from light and out of reach of children. Once opened, it is recommended to use the product within 6 hours, and any unused solution should be disposed of properly.
