Indications
Empet (Pemetrexed) is indicated for the treatment of adult patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially in those who have received prior chemotherapy. This medication is used as first-line therapy in combination with cisplatin for the treatment of non-squamous NSCLC and also as monotherapy for patients who are not candidates for combination treatment. Additionally, Empet may be indicated in the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma, in patients who have not received prior treatments.
Composition
Each 20 mL vial of Empet contains: Pemetrexed disodium equivalent to 500 mg of Pemetrexed, in addition to excipients such as sodium chloride, hydrochloric acid, and water for injection.
Contraindications
Empet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pemetrexed or any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with severely impaired renal function (creatinine clearance < 45 mL/min).
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with compromised renal function, hematological diseases, as well as in those receiving concomitant treatment with medications that may affect renal function. It is advisable to monitor hematological parameters before and during treatment.
Storage
Empet should be stored at a temperature between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light.
