Indications
Ectaprim is indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections. It is commonly used for the treatment of urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and some gastrointestinal infections. The combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole acts synergistically to inhibit folic acid synthesis in bacteria, leading to their death. It is effective against organisms such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, among others. It is important that the use of Ectaprim is under the supervision of a physician, who will determine the appropriate duration and dosage according to the severity of the infection and the patient's response to treatment.
Composition
Each Ectaprim tablet contains:
- Trimethoprim: 80 mg
- Sulfamethoxazole: 400 mg
Contraindications
Ectaprim is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with a history of severe adverse reactions to sulfonamides. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure or severe liver disease.
Precautions
Ectaprim should be used with caution in patients with a history of hematological diseases, in those with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, and in pregnant or lactating women. Medical monitoring during treatment is essential to detect possible adverse effects and adjust the dose if necessary.

Store at temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius, in a dry place and protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
