Indications
Durogesic D-Trans is indicated for the treatment of chronic moderate to severe pain in patients who require continuous pain management and who do not respond adequately to other analgesics. This medication is used in the treatment of conditions such as oncological pain, postoperative pain, and neuropathic pain. It is recommended for patients who are already undergoing opioid treatment and have developed tolerance to them. The patch provides a constant release of fentanyl, which helps maintain stable levels of the medication in the body, thus improving pain control.
Composition
Each Durogesic D-Trans patch contains 25 mcg of fentanyl as an active ingredient. Additionally, it includes excipients such as ethylene vinyl acetate, polyethylene, and other components that allow for proper adhesion and release of fentanyl through the skin.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to fentanyl or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be used in patients with severe respiratory insufficiency, acute asthma, or in those who have not previously been treated with opioids. Likewise, its use is not recommended in pediatric patients or in individuals with severe gastrointestinal problems that may affect drug absorption.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Durogesic D-Trans in elderly patients, those with a history of substance abuse, respiratory depression, or with liver or kidney diseases. It is important to monitor patients for signs of respiratory depression or overdose, especially at the beginning of treatment or when increasing the dose.
Storage
Store the product in its original packaging, at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and dispose of unused patches properly.
