Indications
Dermatovate Ointment is indicated for the treatment of various skin conditions that respond to high-potency corticosteroid therapy. This medication is used in the management of inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and eczema, where a significant inflammatory response is present. Its application should be restricted to the affected areas, and limited use over time is recommended to avoid adverse effects. The ointment works by reducing the inflammation, redness, and itching associated with these dermatological conditions. Continuous monitoring of treatment response and adjustment of application frequency according to the patient's evolution is suggested.
Composition
Each 100 g of Dermatovate Ointment contains: Clobetasol propionate 0.044 g. Excipients: Petrolatum, liquid paraffin, lanolin, among others.
Contraindications
Dermatovate Ointment is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clobetasol or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be applied to infected skin lesions or to areas of skin with rosacea, acne, or perioral dermatitis. It is also contraindicated in children under one year of age due to the possible systemic absorption of the corticosteroid.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when using Dermatovate on extensive areas or for prolonged periods, as this may increase the risk of systemic side effects. It is important to avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of secondary infection, the use of appropriate antimicrobial treatment should be considered. Periodic evaluation of the patient's skin during treatment is recommended.
