Indications

Dabex XR is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control. It is used in patients who cannot achieve adequate blood glucose control with diet and exercise alone. It can also be used in combination with other antidiabetic medications, including insulin, to optimize glycemic control. It is particularly useful in overweight patients or those with insulin resistance, as well as those with a history of hyperglycemia. Its use may contribute to reducing the risk of cardiovascular complications in diabetic patients.

Composition

Each Dabex XR tablet contains 750 mg of metformin as hydrochloride.

Contraindications

Dabex XR is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to metformin or any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with moderate or severe renal insufficiency, metabolic acidosis, diabetic ketoacidosis, acute illnesses that may affect renal function, as well as those undergoing radiological procedures with iodinated contrast.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, heart failure, and in those who present dehydration or conditions that may compromise renal function. It is important to monitor the renal function of patients undergoing treatment with Dabex XR, especially in older adults. It is recommended to evaluate blood glucose and make dose adjustments as necessary.

Storage

Store at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C, in a dry place protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
