Indications
Ciproxina (ciprofloxacin) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. It is used in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, as well as in cases of typhoid fever and some bone and joint infections. Its mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of bacterial DNA synthesis, which results in the death of bacteria. Ciproxina is effective against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Composition
Each Ciproxina tablet contains 500 mg of ciprofloxacin as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose, starch, talc, and other inactive components that allow for tablet formulation.
Contraindications
The use of Ciproxina is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It is also contraindicated in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as in children under 18 years of age, due to possible adverse effects on cartilage development.
Precautions
Precautions should be taken in patients with a history of seizure disorders, renal insufficiency, or those receiving treatments that may increase the risk of adverse effects. It is important to assess the risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture, especially in patients over 60 years of age or those receiving corticosteroids. Additionally, signs of adverse reactions should be monitored during treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
