Indications
Cinacalcet is indicated for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease on dialysis. It is also used in the treatment of hypocalcemia in patients with Turner syndrome and in patients with parathyroid carcinoma. This medication acts as a calcium receptor modulator, which helps to decrease parathyroid hormone secretion and regulate blood calcium levels. Monitoring calcium and parathyroid hormone levels is essential during treatment.
Composition
Each Cinacalcet tablet contains 30 mg of cinacalcet as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, starch, among others.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with hypocalcemia, known hypersensitivity to cinacalcet or any of its components, and in those with a history of anaphylactic reaction to this medication. Its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver diseases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with heart disease, as well as in those taking other medications that may affect calcium levels. Constant monitoring of blood calcium levels and kidney function is important during treatment. Patients are advised to inform their doctor about any medications they are taking to avoid interactions.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C, in a dry place protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
