Indications
Calcort (Deflazacort) is indicated for the treatment of various inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. It is used in the management of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, and other diseases that require an anti-inflammatory and/or immunosuppressive effect. It can also be prescribed in cases of adrenal insufficiency and for the treatment of certain hematological disorders. This medication works by reducing inflammation and modulating the immune response, thereby improving the symptoms associated with these conditions.
Composition
Each Calcort tablet contains 6 mg of Deflazacort as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients that facilitate its formulation and administration, which are safe and approved for use in medications.
Contraindications
Calcort is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Deflazacort or to any of the excipients. It should not be used in uncontrolled systemic infections, as well as in cases of active tuberculosis. It is also contraindicated in patients with untreated viral, fungal, or bacterial infections.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, and cardiovascular diseases. It is important to monitor patients treated with Calcort, as prolonged use can lead to significant adverse effects, including suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. A gradual reduction of the dose is recommended to avoid secondary adrenal insufficiency.
Storage
Calcort should be stored at room temperature, in a dry place and away from direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
