Indications
Amoxil is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections in various locations, such as acute and chronic respiratory infections, including sinusitis, otitis media, and pharyngitis. It is also used in the treatment of urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue infections. Amoxicillin is effective against a wide variety of microorganisms, including strains of Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Escherichia coli. Additionally, it can be used in combination with other medications for the treatment of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with peptic ulcers.
Composition
Each Amoxil capsule contains 500 mg of amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and excipients.
Contraindications
Amoxil is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, other antibiotics of the penicillin family, or any of the formulation's components. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis.
Precautions
It is recommended to evaluate the patient's renal function before starting Amoxil treatment, as dose adjustment is required in cases of renal insufficiency. Caution should be exercised in patients with asthma or those who have experienced allergic reactions to other antibiotics. During treatment, the appearance of adverse reactions, such as skin rashes, which may be indicative of an allergic reaction, should be monitored.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and protect from light.
