Indications
Alprazolam is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder. It is also used for the management of anxiety associated with depression, providing symptomatic relief in patients experiencing severe anxiety episodes. This medication acts on the central nervous system, helping to reduce excitability and promoting a calming and sedating effect. It is important that the use of Alprazolam is supervised by a healthcare professional to ensure its efficacy and safety.
Composition
Each tablet contains 0.50 mg of Alprazolam as the active ingredient. Excipients: lactose, corn starch, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Alprazolam is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Alprazolam or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with closed-angle glaucoma, severe respiratory insufficiency, and in those with substance abuse. Its use during pregnancy and lactation should be evaluated by a physician, given the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Alprazolam to patients with a history of depression or suicide, as it may worsen these symptoms. Likewise, monitoring is recommended in patients with liver or kidney diseases. Treatment should not be discontinued abruptly, as it may lead to withdrawal syndrome.
