Indications
Albendazole is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by various intestinal parasites. It is effective in the treatment of ascariasis (Ascaris lumbricoides infection), enterobiasis (Enterobius vermicularis infection), trichuriasis (Trichuris trichiura infection), and hookworm (Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus infection). Additionally, it is used in the treatment of neurocysticercosis, which is an infection of the central nervous system caused by the pork tapeworm larva. Albendazole administration may be recommended in cases of giardiasis and in infections by other helminths such as Strongyloides stercoralis and Hymenolepis nana.
Composition
Each 100 mL of suspension contains: Albendazole 2 g, excipients q.s.p. 100 mL.
Contraindications
Albendazole is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to albendazole or any of the components of the formula. Its use is not recommended in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless indicated by a physician. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with severe liver diseases.
Precautions
Medical monitoring is recommended during treatment in patients with hepatic or hematological problems. It should not be administered concomitantly with medications that may affect liver function. It is important for women of childbearing age to use contraceptive methods during treatment and for one month after finishing it.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 °C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and in a dry place, out of reach of children.
