Indications
Zyloprim (Allopurinol) is indicated for the treatment of primary or secondary hyperuricemia, which may be associated with conditions such as gout, urate nephropathy, or hematological diseases. It is also used to prevent the formation of kidney stones in patients with elevated uric acid levels, as well as in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced hyperuricemia in patients with malignant neoplasms. It is important to start treatment with low doses and gradually increase them to minimize the risk of gout attacks. This medication acts by reducing uric acid levels in the blood, promoting its renal excretion, and decreasing the production of this metabolite.
Composition
Each Zyloprim tablet contains 300 mg of allopurinol as the active ingredient. Additionally, it contains excipients such as corn starch, lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to allopurinol or any of the excipients in the formulation. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency, severe liver disease, and during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Zyloprim to patients with a history of liver or kidney disease or to those who are receiving other medications that may affect renal function. Regular monitoring of uric acid levels and renal function is recommended during treatment. Patients should be instructed on the importance of staying well-hydrated to prevent the formation of urate crystals in the kidney.

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
