Indications
Zydtron (eletriptan) is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults. This medication acts as a selective agonist of 5-HT_1B and 5-HT_1D receptors, which constricts blood vessels in the brain and reduces inflammation, helping to relieve migraine symptoms. Zydtron is not indicated for migraine prophylaxis or for the treatment of other types of headaches.
Composition
Each Zydtron tablet contains 40 mg of eletriptan as the active ingredient. Excipients include lactose, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.
Contraindications
Zydtron is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to eletriptan or any of the excipients. It is also contraindicated in patients with cardiovascular diseases, a history of myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, uncontrolled hypertension, and in those who are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or certain medications used for migraine treatment.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular diseases, as well as in those with cardiovascular risk factors. Concomitant use of Zydtron with other triptans or ergotamine should be avoided. It is important for patients to inform their doctor about any medication they are taking before starting treatment with Zydtron.
Storage
Store at room temperature, between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
