Indications
Zukedib is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially in patients who have not achieved adequate blood glucose control through diet and exercise. It is used as monotherapy or in combination with other oral antidiabetics or insulin, when diet and exercise, together with oral therapy, do not achieve adequate blood glucose control. Its use may also be considered in overweight patients, as it may contribute to weight reduction.
Composition
Each Zukedib tablet contains 2 mg of Glimepiride as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients that allow for the proper formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glimepiride or to any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be used in cases of type 1 diabetes mellitus or in situations of diabetic ketoacidosis. Likewise, it is contraindicated in patients with severe liver diseases or severe kidney failure.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Zukedib to patients with liver disease, kidney disease, or in individuals with a history of allergic reactions. Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia. Likewise, dose adjustment should be considered in elderly patients or in those with conditions that may alter the effectiveness of the medication.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
