Indications
Ziextenzo (Pegfilgrastim) is indicated for reducing the incidence of febrile neutropenia in patients receiving cytotoxic chemotherapy for the treatment of breast, lung, head and neck cancer, and other solid tumors. Additionally, it is used for the mobilization of peripheral hematopoietic stem cells in patients requiring a bone marrow transplant. The medication works by stimulating the production of white blood cells, which helps prevent infections in immunocompromised patients.
Composition
Each Ziextenzo syringe contains 6 mg of Pegfilgrastim in a volume of 0.6 ml. It also contains excipients such as acetic acid, sodium chloride, and water for injection.
Contraindications
Ziextenzo is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Pegfilgrastim or any of the excipients in the formula. It is also contraindicated in patients with a history of acute myeloid leukemia, as the use of this medication may be inappropriate in these cases.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with pulmonary disorders, as there may be an increased risk of respiratory adverse reactions. Likewise, careful monitoring is recommended in patients experiencing bone pain, as this may be indicative of treatment response. It is important to monitor blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, as Pegfilgrastim can influence these levels.
Storage
Ziextenzo should be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Keep the medication in its original packaging to protect it from light. The product must be used before the expiration date indicated on the package.
