Indications
Zedesen is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by ceftibutene-susceptible organisms, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, otitis media, and pharyngitis. It is also effective in the treatment of certain urinary tract infections. It is important that the use of Zedesen be based on the results of cultures and sensitivity tests, when possible. In cases of complicated or persistent infections, medical evaluation is recommended to determine the need for additional treatment.
Composition
Each Zedesen capsule contains: Ceftibutene 400 mg, excipients q.s.p. 1 capsule.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ceftibutene, other cephalosporin antibiotics, or any of the excipients in the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to other antibiotics.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Monitoring is recommended in patients with renal insufficiency, as dose adjustment may be necessary. Prolonged use of antibiotics can lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms, including fungi. In the event of severe diarrhea, the possibility of antibiotic-associated colitis should be considered.
