Indications
Virazide is indicated in the treatment of chronic viral infections. It is commonly used in patients with hepatitis C, in combination with other antiviral medications. It has also been indicated in the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) pneumonia in pediatric patients. Ribavirin works by interfering with the replication of the virus's genetic material, which helps reduce the viral load and improve symptoms associated with these infections. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions for the dosage and duration of treatment, as this may vary depending on the severity of the infection and the patient's response to treatment.
Composition
Each capsule contains 400 mg of ribavirin as an active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the capsule's formulation.
Contraindications
Virazide is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ribavirin or any component of the formula. It should not be used during pregnancy and lactation, as it can cause fetal harm. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe heart disease or severe anemia.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or anemia.
