Indications

Venoferrum is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia, especially in situations where a rapid correction of iron levels in the body is required. It is used in patients with anemia secondary to various conditions such as gastrointestinal disorders that hinder iron absorption, chronic or acute blood loss, and in those who require a rapid increase in iron, such as in cases of surgery or trauma. This medication is also suitable for patients with renal insufficiency who require intravenous iron treatment. Its administration may be necessary in patients who do not respond adequately to oral iron therapy due to side effects or malabsorption.

Composition

Each Venoferrum ampoule contains 100 mg of ferric saccharate. This compound is presented as an aqueous solution, designed for intravenous or intramuscular administration.

Contraindications

Venoferrum is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ferric saccharate or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered in cases of iron overload or non-iron deficiency anemias, as well as in those with severe liver diseases. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions to iron-containing products.

Precautions

It is recommended to carefully evaluate liver function and iron levels in patients before starting treatment. During the administration of Venoferrum, the patient should be observed for possible adverse reactions, especially with the first dose. Administration should be carried out by trained medical personnel and in an environment where any adverse reactions that may occur can be managed.

Storage

Venoferrum should be stored at a controlled temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Protect from light and keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
