Indications
Valium (Diazepam) is indicated for the treatment of anxiety disorders, anxiety attacks, and for the management of withdrawal symptoms in patients with alcohol dependence. It is also used as pre-medication in surgical and diagnostic procedures, as well as in the treatment of muscle spasms and seizures. This medication acts on the central nervous system, producing a sedative and relaxing effect, which contributes to the reduction of anxiety and improves the patient's well-being.
Composition
Each Valium tablet contains 10 mg of diazepam as the active ingredient, along with excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diazepam or to any of the excipients in the formulation. It should not be administered to patients with myasthenia gravis, sleep apnea, or severe respiratory insufficiency. Additionally, its use is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation, unless strictly necessary and under medical supervision.
Precautions
Caution is recommended when using Valium in patients with a history of substance abuse, depression, liver or kidney disease. Continuous medical monitoring during treatment is important to prevent the appearance of adverse effects and dependence. Treatment should not be interrupted abruptly, as this may cause withdrawal symptoms.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Keep out of reach of children.
