Indications
Unamol (Cisapride) is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal motility disorders, such as gastroesophageal reflux, functional dyspepsia, and gastroparesis. This medication acts as a prokinetic, increasing gastrointestinal motility and facilitating gastric emptying, which can be beneficial in patients with symptoms of gastric fullness, nausea, or vomiting related to motility disorders. It has also been used in the treatment of chronic constipation in certain patients.
Composition
Each Unamol tablet contains 5 mg of cisapride as the active ingredient. It also contains excipients such as starch, microcrystalline cellulose, talc, and other inert components that allow for the proper formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Unamol is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cisapride or any of the excipients in the formulation, as well as in those with a history of cardiac arrhythmias, prolonged QT syndrome, or who are being treated with drugs that inhibit its metabolism, such as certain antifungals and antibiotics. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic insufficiency.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Unamol to patients with a history of heart disease, electrolyte disorders, or those who are being treated with other medications that may affect heart function. Adequate monitoring is recommended in these patients to avoid complications.
Storage
Store the medicine in a cool, dry place, at room temperature, protected from light and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
