Indications
Torlamo Dt is indicated for the treatment of epilepsy, particularly for patients suffering from partial seizures and generalized tonic-clonic seizures. It is also used as adjunctive therapy in patients with refractory epilepsy. Furthermore, this medication is used in the management of bipolar affective disorder, helping to prevent episodes of depression and mania in patients with this condition. Lamotrigine acts by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain, which reduces the frequency and severity of seizures. It is essential that treatment with Torlamo Dt be supervised by a healthcare professional, who will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment, based on the specific needs of each patient.
Composition
Each Torlamo Dt tablet contains 100 mg of lamotrigine as the active ingredient, in addition to excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
Torlamo Dt is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lamotrigine or to any of the components of the formula. Caution should also be exercised in patients with a history of severe skin reactions to other antiepileptic medications, as this may increase the risk of serious adverse reactions.
Precautions
Constant monitoring is recommended in patients with liver diseases, as well as in those undergoing treatment with other medications that may interact with lamotrigine. Special care should also be taken in patients who have experienced episodes of depression or suicidal thoughts. Abrupt discontinuation of treatment can lead to an increase in seizures, so a gradual dose adjustment is suggested.
