Indications
Tobradex Ointment is indicated for the treatment of ocular infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to aminoglycoside antibiotics, as well as for the treatment of ocular inflammations that may be associated with these infections. It is used in the management of bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, and other inflammatory conditions of the eye. The combination of dexamethasone and tobramycin provides an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect, which helps reduce inflammation and control infection in the ocular area.
Composition
Each gram of Tobradex Ointment contains: Dexamethasone 0.1% and Tobramycin 0.3%. Excipients: Petrolatum, lanolin, and other inert components.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components, viral or fungal eye infections, active ocular tuberculosis, and in those with epithelial corneal lesions. Its use is not recommended in patients with uncontrolled glaucoma.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when used in patients with a history of ocular herpes simplex, as it may worsen the infection. In addition, prolonged use may increase the risk of developing cataracts or glaucoma. Intraocular pressure monitoring is recommended in patients receiving long-term treatment.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place, at room temperature. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
