Indications
Terfamex (Phentermine) is indicated as a supplement in the treatment of obesity in adult patients with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 kg/m², or greater than 27 kg/m² who present associated comorbidities, such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia. This medication acts as an appetite suppressant, helping to reduce caloric intake and facilitate the start of a weight control program that includes diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes. Therapy with Terfamex should be part of a comprehensive approach that includes medical supervision and adequate follow-up.
Composition
Each Terfamex capsule contains 30 mg of phentermine as the active ingredient. Excipients may include microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and other inactive components that facilitate the formulation of the medication.
Contraindications
This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to phentermine or any of the components of the formula, as well as in those with severe cardiovascular diseases, uncontrolled hypertension, hyperthyroidism, glaucoma, or in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be used in combination with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days after their discontinuation.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, or pulmonary diseases. Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is important during treatment. Patients should be informed about the possibility of side effects such as insomnia, nervousness, dry mouth, or constipation.
