Indications
Tecta is indicated for the treatment of conditions related to excessive gastric acid secretion. It is used in the therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), where it helps alleviate symptoms such as heartburn and stomach acid. It is also indicated in the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as in the prevention of ulcers associated with the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Additionally, Tecta is used in the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, a condition in which excessive amounts of gastric acid are produced.
Composition
Each Tecta tablet contains 40 mg of pantoprazole as pantoprazole sodium sesquihydrate, as well as excipients that facilitate its formulation and absorption.
Contraindications
Tecta is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pantoprazole or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions to other proton pump inhibitors.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised when administering Tecta to patients with severe liver diseases, as dose adjustments may be required. Furthermore, an adequate diagnosis is recommended to rule out the presence of gastric cancer in patients with persistent symptoms. Prolonged use of pantoprazole may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures and vitamin B12 deficiencies.
