Indications

Soliris (Eculizumab) is indicated for the treatment of patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), a rare hematological disease characterized by the destruction of red blood cells, which can lead to severe complications, including thrombosis. In addition, it is used in patients with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS), which is a condition that causes kidney damage and is not related to infections. This medication works by inhibiting complement activation, which helps prevent the destruction of blood cells and improves the quality of life for patients with these conditions.

Composition

Each Soliris ampoule contains 300 mg of Eculizumab as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the solution.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Eculizumab or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Likewise, its use is not recommended in patients with severe active infections, because Eculizumab can increase the risk of infections by encapsulated organisms.

Precautions

Special care should be taken in patients with a history of recurrent infections or those who have received recent vaccinations. It is important to monitor patients for signs of infection, as Eculizumab therapy can increase the risk of serious infections, such as meningitis. Prior vaccination against Neisseria meningitidis and other relevant infections is recommended before starting treatment.

Storage

Store in refrigeration between 2 °C and 8 °C. Do not freeze. Keep the medication in its original packaging and out of reach of children.
