Indications

Sintrom (acenocoumarol) is indicated for the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. It is also used to prevent thromboembolic events in patients with atrial fibrillation and in those who have suffered a myocardial infarction to prevent clot formation. This medication acts as an anticoagulant, interfering with the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors, which helps reduce the risk of blood clot formation.

Composition

Each Sintrom tablet contains 4 mg of acenocoumarol as the active ingredient, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the medication.

Contraindications

Sintrom is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to acenocoumarol, in those with a high risk of bleeding, such as in cases of active bleeding or bleeding disorders. It is also contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease, uncontrolled hypertension, and in pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless expressly indicated by a doctor.

Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of peptic ulcers, cerebrovascular diseases, or in those who are simultaneously being treated with other medications that affect coagulation. Regular monitoring of INR (International Normalized Ratio) is important to adjust the dose appropriately and prevent hemorrhagic complications.
