Indications

Sertraline is indicated for the treatment of major depression in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age. It is also used in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, post-traumatic stress disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. This medication works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety symptoms.

Composition

Each tablet contains 50 mg of sertraline. Excipients: lactose, starch, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, among others.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sertraline or any of the excipients in the formula. It should not be administered concomitantly with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients with a history of serotonin syndrome. Its use in combination with other antidepressants should be supervised by a physician.

Precautions

Caution is recommended in patients with a history of manic or bipolar disorders, as well as in those with a history of seizures. Close monitoring is important in patients with medical conditions that may be affected by increased serotonin. Discontinuation of treatment should be gradual to avoid withdrawal symptoms.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children.
