Indications
Ruquimox is indicated for the treatment of malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, both in its acute forms and for prophylactic treatment in areas where malaria is endemic. It is also used in the management of autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, due to its immunomodulatory effect. Hydroxychloroquine acts by inhibiting lysosome function and cytokine production, which contributes to its effectiveness in controlling these conditions. Its use must be supervised by a healthcare professional, who will determine the dose and duration of treatment according to the patient's characteristics and the disease to be treated.
Composition
Each Ruquimox tablet contains 200 mg of hydroxychloroquine, as well as excipients necessary for the formulation of the product. It is important to review the leaflet for detailed information on the complete composition and excipients used.
Contraindications
Ruquimox is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to hydroxychloroquine, as well as in those with retinal diseases or in patients with hemoglobin problems, such as porphyria. It should also be avoided in cases of severe renal and hepatic insufficiency, where drug elimination could be compromised.
Precautions
Caution is recommended in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, as hydroxychloroquine can cause adverse effects on cardiac conduction. Likewise, care should be taken with co-administration with other medications that may prolong the QT interval. Frequent monitoring of ocular function is essential in patients receiving prolonged treatment.
Storage
Store the product in a cool, dry place, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep out of reach of children and protect from direct light. Do not use after the expiration date indicated on the package.
