Indications
Rifosar is indicated for the treatment of hyperphosphatemia in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease, whether on dialysis or not. It is used as a phosphate binder to help control blood phosphate levels, which is crucial to prevent complications associated with the accumulation of this mineral in patients with renal failure. Additionally, it can be used as part of an integrated treatment regimen to improve patients' quality of life through proper management of lipid levels and the prevention of bone diseases related to kidney dysfunction.
Composition
Each Rifosar tablet contains 800 mg of Sevelamer, as well as excipients that contribute to the product's stability and efficacy.
Contraindications
Rifosar is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Sevelamer or to any of the excipients in the formulation. Its use is not recommended in patients with gastrointestinal obstruction or in those with a history of ileus or severe gastrointestinal disorders.
Precautions
Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, as well as in those who require a phosphorus-restricted diet. It is important to monitor blood calcium and phosphorus levels during treatment. Dose adjustment is recommended in case of significant alterations in laboratory results.
